Conversation right after I got home from doing some volunteer work yesterday:
Me: Was [specific friend's name] here?
Husband: Yes! How did you know?
Me: I could smell him.
Husband: What, are you a wild animal or something?
Me: He wears patchouli!

Hahahaha! Oh my....
I saw your Tweet and wondered what that was about. SO worth the wait. It probably helps that I know the two of you and can visualize that sweet little exchange. Hee!

That is so weird. I was just sitting down to write a blog about evocative smells (scraping the bottom of the NaBloPoMo barrel) and I was going to mention patchouli....Now you'll think I'm just copying...
Do you remember the great line from High Fidelity when John Cusack yells at Tim Robbins about his "patchouli stink"? I loved that moment for so many reasons.

Ugh, patchouli. When my allergies flared up in October, I had to keep an inhaler at work 'cause the part-timer in the next cubicle wore that stuff. Twenty minutes after she got there, I'd get wheezy. Yuck.

That's hilarious. Patchouli is definitely a signature odor.
